FAQ

Does PEP XP work on Microsoft Windows 7?

PEP XP works on all versions of Microsoft Windows Operating Systems from Windows XP through Windows 7 .

Does PEP XP work on Macintosh computers?

PEP XP will run on Macintosh computers if the user has installed the "Parallels Desktop" program and a full version of Microsoft Windows.  This is a separate process that PEP is not responsible for.

Can I just order PEP XP Field Estimator or Office Estimator and use either of these programs without the full version of PEP XP?

No, PEP XP Field Estimator and Office Estimator are both accessories for PEP XP.

The Field Estimator is an add on program that is loaded onto the laptop or tablet computers of estimators that work mostly in the field.  The field estimator comes back to the office and syncs the information gathered in the field with the PEP XP that is running in the office.  PEP XP must be running in the office in order for the PEP XP Field Estimator to come back and synchronize the field info.

The Office Estimator allows an employee to estimate in the office or in the field without seeing your company's pricing structure. The information is then synchronized into the PEP XP Program where the pricing structure is stored.

PEP XP must be installed and running in the office in order for either program the Field Estimator or the Office Estimator to synchronize the information.

What are the minimum system requirements for PEP XP Lite, PEP XP and PEP XP Field Estimator?

  • The minimum system requirements are:

    • 500 MHz Intel Pentium II (or equivalent)

    • 256 MB of RAM

    • Windows 2000

    • 500 MB of disk space

    • Optimized for 1024 x 768. Supports 800x600 with small fonts.

How many times can I activate a single version of PEP XP, PEP Lite, PEP Office Estimator, or PEP Field Estimator?

We understand that sometimes you have to reload your computer for maintenance and that you might choose to upgrade to a new computer.  We will activate a single version one time per year after the initial activation.

Why do some of the larger windows get cut off at the edges of my screen?

PEP is optimized for graphics cards running at 1024x768 and higher. A screen resolution of 800x600 is the absolute minimum resolution allowed but only while using small fonts.  Large fonts at 800x600 are not supported.

Can my estimators that go out into the field sync PEP XP Field Estimator with PEP XP while they are still in the field?

PEP XP Field Estimator can only be synced to PEP XP when the computer running PEP XP Field Estimator has a valid network connection to PEP XP. If an estimator goes out into the field with a tablet or laptop computer and has a mobile internet connection, a VPN connection can be established back to the office so that PEP XP Field Estimator can be synced while still out in the field.

I have two estimators that work out of their homes.  Can they use PEP XP Field Estimator or Office Estimator and then sync the info from the job back to the office or from their house so that they do not have to come into the office?

An estimator can use the PEP XP Field Estimator or Office Estimator out in the field to estimate a job and then plug his tablet or laptop computer into a cable modem or DSL modem.  Once an internet connection has been established, a VPN connection can connect the estimator back to the office to sync the estimate back into the system running PEP XP back in the office.

Is there a money back guarantee?

PEP offers a 7 day free trial on all of our programs, however because the PEP program is downloaded directly onto your computer, once it is activated there is no way for us to erase the program should you change your mind.  For this reason, we are unable to provide refunds, once the program is paid for as we would have no guarantee that our program would not continue to be used.

How do I backup my PEP files?

The PEP program does not offer its own back up procedure.  At a minimum, it would be a good procedure to frequently save a copy of the following file on a thumb-drive, CD, DVD, or any other common form of writeable media.
